The Mosaic Project is a group project, which aims to promote the mental well-being of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) young people in the North Locality of Edinburgh. The group is co-facilitated by MCFB and The Junction, offering a service for BAME young people in S2-S6 who identify as experiencing poor mental health, and feel that their cultural needs are not being met by mainstream mental health services or youth agencies.
The Mosaic Project is run by youth/group workers at MCFB in collaboration with The Junction. The group meets weekly and is a relaxed and informal opportunity to focus on strategies to combat stress and anxiety. It is a safe and comfortable space where young people’s voices and views are at the centre.
The weekly group is run on a drop-in basis. We share a snack and have a catch-up before sharing experiences and thoughts, looking at ways to achieve wellbeing through self-help strategies. We sometimes invite yoga and meditation instructors or visiting local organisations involved in physical and mental health.
If you think you or someone you know might benefit from the group, please read the criteria below or download the information leaflet and pass this on. You are also welcome to just come along to one of our sessions to check it out for yourself, or contact us to find out more. It can take time to gain confidence in a group so please come even if you do not feel comfortable contributing much in the beginning. We look forward to seeing you!
If you would like to attend the group and travel is a barrier, we have some funding for escorted travel and/or taxis.
